Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 4, 1986.

The arms show a boat clamp. Shipbuilding has a long-time tradition in the municipality and an element to symbolise shipbuilding was considered appropriate. The symbol chosen is a kind of clamp used to keep the wooden flanks of the ships together.
