===Origin/meaning===
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: The fleur-de-lis reflects the history of the home location of the school and symbolizes the cadets’ dedication to their community.  The tower embattlement suggests the original establishment of the host city as a fort and reflects the cadets’ training as citizen defenders.  The ring of chain links represents the unit’s make up of cadets from different schools who work together to form a strong, effective, and unified company.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Green and gold are the colors associated with Herbert Hoover High School.  The bretessed fess suggests an embattlement which alludes to the military aspects of the ROTC program and also resembles the conjoined letters “H H H” for Herbert Hoover High or Hoover High Huskies of Herbert Hoover Huskies.  The fleur-de-lis is symbolic of Des Moines, the location of the school, and the wreath refers to excellence and achievement provided by the school’s curriculum.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 22 June 1995. The shoulder loop was approved on 28 April 1988.
