HETTSTEDT (HET)

State : Sachsen-Anhalt
Incorporated into : 1994 Mansfelder Land (2007 Mansfeld-Südharz)

Hettsted.kreis.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on June 21, 1993.

The arms show the quartered arms of Querfurt and Mansfeld in the first quarter; the arms of the Counts of Mansfeld of the Querfurt family.
The second quarter represents the iron industry, which has been of importance in the area for centuries.

The tree represents the many woods in the area. The fourth quarter shows the arms of the Princes of Anhalt, to represent two towns in the county that originally belonged to Anhalt.
