HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (FLORIDA)

State : Florida

Origin/meaning

Introduced in 2016

Created in 1834 by the U.S. Legislative Council of the Territory of Florida, Hillsborough County, on the Gulf of Mexico, centers on the city of Tampa. It’s the fourth most populous county in Florida, and the largest away from the southeast coast.

The Sky Orange and Deep Sea Blue colors symbolize the warm, sunny weather and blue waters of the county’s three bays.

Those environmental features anchor a thriving economy that includes a lush playground for residents and visitors.

The silhouette showcases one of the county’s most iconic images: the silver dome that graced the top of the County Courthouse from 1892 until 1953, and is memorialized in Joe Chillura Courthouse Square.
