HIPPOLYTE TRÉHIOU

Born : November 22, 1880
Deceased : January 9, 1941

Bishop of Vannes, 1929-1941

Arms (crest) of Hippolyte Tréhiou

Official blazon

De gueules au monogramme du Christ d'or, au chef cousu d'azur chargé de trois coquilles d'argent, bordé d'hermines.

Origin/meaning

The three shells recall the many pilgrimages of the dioceses of Saint-Brieuc and Vannes, in particular that of Sainte-Anne d'Auray. The Christ Monogramme indicates that Christ alone will inspire all the thoughts and actions of the bishop. The border of ermines refers to Bretagne.
