Origin/meaning

The arms show an oak tree, symbol of justice. In the 12th century several times a year a court convened under the large oak in the village. The Holle court was a court of the Counts of Wohldenberg at the time.

The shield symbolises the brooch from the early Middle Ages (5th-8th century) that was found in the village, consisting of a small iron shield, with bronze plating and white and red stones, now in the State Museum in Hannover.
