Origin/meaning

The arms were never officially granted.
The arms were already used by the council in the late 19th century, in the early 19th century only a garb was used on the seal. The arms indicate the importance of agriculture for the municipality.
In 1911 the State Archives proposed new arms, a red shield with a gold spinning wheel. This was a symbol for the local wool spinning industry. The local council, however, rejected the proposal and continued with the old arms.
