German	In Gold ein roter Palisadenzaun mit offenem Torhaus, dessen rotes Dach mit drei roten Fähnchen an blauen Stangen besteckt ist; in der Toröffnung zwei schreitende, rot gezungte blaue Löwen übereinander.

Origin/meaning

Husum was already an important town in the 14^th century, but received its city rights much later, in 1603. The oldest seal dates from the 15^th century and already shows the present arms. The gate shows the privilege obtained in 1465 that allowed to built a wooden fence and gates around the villages of Wester- and Öster-Husum. The two lions are the lions of the Duchy of Schleswig, in which Husum was situated.
