Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 10, 1958 (London) and registered in Canada on March 27, 2021.

The wavy blue chevron alludes to water and, by extension, to hydroelectricity. The cogwheels represent the turbines and generators in a power plant, which transform the flow of a river into energy. The sprig of maple leaves is taken from the provincial arms of Ontario.

The electric generator represents the commission’s power plants, and the sun the energy that they produce.

The moose and the deer are the supporters of the arms of the Province of Ontario.

The motto means “The gifts of nature are for the people.” It emphasizes that the commission was established as a public utility to harness energy from natural sources.
