Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on September 9, 2020.

The strawberry, a typical garden fruit, refers to the old name of the village (Horto in 1139, Inortum in 1157), which is derived from hort, ort meaning garden in the local dialect.

The royal fleur-de-lys recalls that at the end of the Ancien Régime, the village was part of the County of Clermont, a Royal possession.

The third quarter shows a bend taken from the arms of the Vassinhac d'Imécourt family who succeeded the Pouilly family by marriage in 1653 as local lord then as lord after the revolution. Gédéon II de Vassinhac had an imposing castle built in 1688, instead of a medieval fortress. The castle was destroyed, at the same time as the village, in 1940.
The axe refers to the coopers of the village, which were needed to store the local vines.

The rooster is one of the attributes of Saint Peter, to whom the church built in 1722, partially destroyed in 1940 and restored in 1954, is dedicated.

The vine branches are those of the vines which until the end of the 19th century produced, on more than 75 ha in Inor, a locally famous wine.
