ISMANING

District (Kreis) : München

Wappen von Ismaning

Official blazon

Geteilt von Silber und Schwarz; oben ein rot gekrönter schwarzer Mohrenkopf auf rotem Sockel, unten nebeneinander drei stehende silberne Rauten.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 22, 1929.

Ismaning was the capital of the County of Ismaning, which was sold in 1319 by King Ludwig to the Bishops of Freising. The Moor's head is the arms of the diocese of Freising. The large castle built in 1520 became in 1723 the summer residence of the bishops. The lower part shows the arms of Bishop Johann Franz Ecker von Kapfing, who made the castle the summer residence.
