Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 2009 and are the historical arms of Jämsänkoski.

The previous arms were granted on December 29, 1953.

The bunch of arrows refers to the former importance of the town as a centre for hunting.

The chain is a common symbol for the mother parish of Jämsä, Jämsänkoski and Koskenpää, and is thus used by all three municipalities in their arms.
