JOHN LINUS PASCHANG
Born : October 5, 1895
Deceased : March 21, 1999
Bishop of Grand Island, 1951-1972
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.
The chief of the personal arms shows a fish for his mother, whose name was Fisher. The animal is taken to represent Paschang. The lower half shows symbols for his two patron saints, St. John Baptist and St. Linus, Pope and martyr.
