Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The first quarter shows the monogramme of Maria (Ave Maria) as a symbol for St. Mary. The second quarter shows the arms of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, of which he was a member. The third shows the arms of the village of Heer where he was born. The fourth shows again symbols for St. Mary as Maria Stella Maris (star of the sea), the patron saint of the city of Maastricht, where he grew up.

The motto In Domino confido, means Trust in the Lord, or in Dutch, Vertrouw op de Heer, which is also referring to the village of Heer.
