JOSVAINIAI

County : Kaunas
Municipality : Kėdainiai

Arms (crest) of Josvainiai
Official blazon
Lithuanian blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on on March 29, 1792 and again on July 19, 2006.

The arms should symbolize readiness to defend the country and citizen rights by force. The arms contains numerous heraldic errors, it differs quite significantly from the text of privilege, but it is very similar to the arms of Veiviržėnai granted 3 days before. It has been speculated that the clerk was either not educated in heraldry, or that he liked making his job easier.

In any case, in 2006 it was decided keeping the modern arms as close to the historical one as possible.
