The first quarter shows the arms of [[Guillaume-Marie van Zuylen]], bishop of Liège to whom he was appointed as auxiliary bishop. The second quarter shows two hazel trees, taken from the arms of the city of [[Hasselt (Limburg)|Hasselt]]. The grapes refer to the city of Tongeren, where the bishop was born.
