State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
Incorporated into : 1972 Rhein-Erft Kreis and large parts into the city of Köln
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 22, 1939.
The district is made up of areas that belonged to the Counts of Berg, the Counts of Jülich and the Bishops of Köln. This is represented in the arms by the key of Köln, the red lion of Berg and the black lion of Jülich.
