Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a rectangular shield, arched in base and blazoned as follows: Per fess crested Gules and Argent counter-charged with barruletts, one in chief abased and three in base enhanced two spears in saltire White, shaded Red and issuant from base overall a demi-Hawaiian chieftain of the first arranged with traditional helm Argent, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border. Attached below the shield, a White scroll inscribed “KAHUKU” in Red letters edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border. The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height by 2 9/16 inches (6.51 cm) in width.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall, consisting of an aerial view of the North Shore of Oahu between blue ocean areas and two white cloud formations above the horizon between a white scroll at top inscribed “PRIDE OF THE” in silver letters and a red scroll in base inscribed “NORTH SHORE” in silver letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Red and white are the school colors. The crested line indicates the relationship of land and sea and here represents the community of Kahuku. The three bars to base symbolize the communities of: Kaawa, Hauula, and Laie. The bar to chief signifies Sunset Beach. The spears and chieftain recall the honor and traditions of the culture and the cadets’ service to the school and communities.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: The colors of the school are reflected in the device. The rendering of a prominent geographical location on the island associates the cadets’ pride with their school, community and country.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and the Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved on 11 October 2000.
