Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 21, 1972.

The upper half shows a cross derived from the arms of the Lords of Vornholte, who in medieval times owned many possessions in the municipality. The lower half shows a fish, symbol for Stephen Ludwig Jacobi, who, in the late 18th century, established fish farming in the village of Hohenhausen.
