Escudo de ouro, monte de verde saínte de uma campanha de cinco tiras ondadas de prata e verde, tendo brocante uma baleia de negro realçada de prata; em chefe, três bilhetas de negro, alinhadas em faixa. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco, com a legenda a negro: “ FREGUESIA DE LAJES DO PICO “.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 3, 2003.

The arms show the local volcano and a whale. The whale refers to the former importance of whaling in the Atlantic Ocean for the parish.

I have no information about the black squares.
