Origin/meaning

The "F" and the "Y" recall the Catholic Monarchs who achieved national unity in Andalusian lands after the Reconquest. The golden key represents the guard of Spain and the defense of the Strait. Likewise, together with the azure of the field and the silver waves, they symbolize the power to exercise dominion over the Strait. The Coat of Arms was approved on 29 June 2005.
