Im gespaltenen Schild links die verschlungenen goldenen Buchstaben L und S auf blauem Grund, rechts eine halbe goldene Wappenlilie auf rotem Grund sowie rechts und links oben und in der Mitte unten je einen goldenen Stern.

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the old seal of Lauenstein, dating from the 15th century. The right part shows the letters LS and are thus the initials of the town. The town grew around the castle of the same name, which was built in 1245. The left part shows a fleur-de-lis, which is derived from the arms of the Von Cramm family, who owned the castle around 1430. Sometimes the shield was divided, but most often the partition line was not visible, thus there is no partition line in the present arms.

After the merger with Salzhemmendorf the village now uses the same composition, but with different colours:
