COUNTY LEITRIM

Arms (crest) of Leitrim (county)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

At a meeting of Leitrim County Council held on 5th December, 1980, the Council approved of the design of Arms for County Leitrim.

The shield has been divided to recall the gentle hills characteristic of much of the county. In the upper part are placed a lion as in the arms of O'Rourke and in the lower part are placed three fountains, representing the lakes which are so prominent a feature.
