Arms of Lielvārde (town)

Official blazon

Sudraba laukā sarkans krustu šķērskrusts, sarkanā vairoga galvā sudraba zobens.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1998.

The sword symbolizes the weapon of the Latvian mythical hero "Lacplesis" or Bearslayer (who died in the Daugava river near the town, as he fought the German invaders).

The cross is called the "Cross of Crosses" and is a symbol against evil forces.
