The oldest seal dates from 1339 and shows a deer antler, derived from the arms of [[Württemberg]]. Later seals and arms show three deer or deer antlers within a red bordure, but in the late 19<sup>th</sup> century the bordure was removed again. In the early 20<sup>th</sup> century the two additional antlers were removed and the original arms were restored.

Before 1948 the colour of the shield was not clear, [[Otto Hupp|Hupp]] used the golden field of Württemberg as shown below.
