Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 4, 2011.

The division of the field with the tree refer to the -scheid part of the name, which means clearing of a forest. The two parts of the municipality, Manderscheider Hof and Heilhauser Mühle are represented by a cross and a water mill wheel respectively.

The red and silver colours refer to the Counts of Vianden and the Abbey of Prüm, to which the area historically belonged.
