Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Red, white, and blue are the school’s colors. The anchor represents the school’s nautical identity.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Red, white, and blue are the school’s colors. The gold background represents excellence. The fouled anchor denotes the school’s mascot, and the eagles suggest the cadets’ dedication to country and state and reflect the battalion name. The blue area symbolizes the Mississippi River and alludes to the city of New Orleans, where the school is located.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and the Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved on 9 May 1994.
