MECHERNICH

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Euskirchen

Wappen von Mechernich

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1935 and confirmed on February 9, 1973.

The arms show in the upper part the lion of Blankenheim and in the lower miner's tools. The Lords of Blankenheim ruled the area in the Middle Ages, whereas the tools symbolise the importance of mining in the area.
