Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 8, 1979.

The arms show an archer, symbolising Einar Tambarskjelve from Melhus, who was a famous chief and archer in the 11th century. He is mentioned as an archer for King Olav Tryggvason in the battle of Svolder.
