Note: NAS = Naval Air Station, MCAS = Marine Corps Air Station.

NB The VT designation was until 1946 used by Torpedo Squadrons. In 1960 it was reviewed for Training Squadrons, which between 1927-1947 had been designated VN. Between 1947-1960 Training Units was dsignated Basic Training Groups (BTG), Advanced Training Units (ATU), Jet Transition Training Units (JTTU) or Multi Engine Training Groups (METG).
