Origin/meaning

The oak leaves symbolise the Schafhauser and Schooer forests in the municipality. The acorn symbolises the large oak in the village. The five wheat ears symbolise the five villages; Altgaude, Neugaude, Wagnersfehn, Westerschoo and Klosterschoo, and at the same time symbolise the agricultural character of the region. The cross symbolises the two medieval monasteries in the village.
