Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 26, 1970 and were identical to the arms of the Amt Körbecke, which territory was nearly identical to the present municipality.

The arms show in the upper part the cross of the State of Köln. The area belonged to Köln from 1368 until the early 19th century. Prior to 1368 the area was ruled by the Counts of Arnsberg. The lower part shows the eagle derived from the Counts of Arnsberg. The wavy division line symbolises the Möhnesee-lake.
