NATIONAL ARMS OF RWANDA
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
Rwanda never used proper arms, but only state symbols. The present symbol is adopted in 2001.
The symbol combines different elements that together should symbolise the unity of the country.
The symbol replaced the symbol adopted in 1964, see image below.
The symbol shows different weapons in a triangular shield, surrounded by the (then) national flag and the motto 'Liberté, Cooperation, Progrès' or Freedom, Co-operation, Progress.

For the colonial arms, see Ruanda-Urundi
