Province : Limburg

Neerpelt.jpg

Official blazon

Gedeeld 1. in zilver twee beurtelings gekanteelde dwarsbalken van keel 2. gedwarsbalkt van tien stukken van goud en van keel.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 30, 1981.

The arms are a combination of the red bars in gold of the County Loon (left half) and the arms of the Estate of Grevenbroek (red in silver, right half). The municipality of Neerpelt is made up from the old estates of Pelt and Sint Huibrechts Lille. Historically Pelt belonged to the County of Loon and Sint Huibrechts Lille was part of Grevenbroek. The Grevenbroek arms are those of the Lords of Arkel, who acquired the estate in 1380.
