(fr) 'or au rameau de poirier tigé de tenné, feuillé de sinople et fleuri d'une fleur de pourpre, au bouton de gueules à cinq pointes de sinople, accosté de deux archères cruciformes d'azur; au chef de gueules chargé d'un trilobe d'azur bordé d'or, chargé d'un triangle équilatéral du même et accosté de deux fleurs de lis d'or.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in November 2021.

The flowering pear in the shield and the apple tree branches in blossom around the shield illustrate spring and refer indirectly to the toponym NEPVANT (from NOVIANTHUM in 1157 meaning new). The two crosses refer to the arrow-splits in the local castle.

The fleur-de-lys refer to the Condé family, lords of the area until 1790. The tri-lobe refers to both the Holy Trinity as well as to to Saint Maximin, who died in Poitiers, around 347. It also refers to Nicolas Lorin, master glassmaker in Chartres, was born in 1833 in Nepvant.

The wheel is that of the local mill which was active in the village until 1940.
