===Origin/meaning===
The arms were granted in 1951 and shows in the right half the cross of the [[Trier (State)|State of Trier]], and the bars of the Lords of Neumagen. The latter had a small Estate around the town until 1320. The town and surrounding area belonged to the State of Trier for many centuries. In the late 19th century Hupp accidentally interpreted a seal of [[Dormagen]] as a seal of Neumagen. The seal showed St. Michael and a dragon. The Neumagen council adopted this composition as arms and used it until 1951.
