Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ?

The wheatear and the reed symbolise the agricultural character and the (former) marshlands that have been drained. The base also refers to the former marshes as well as to the Ems river and ponds in the municipality. The bell is the bell in the school of Niederlangen and functions on many occasions in the village.

The bridge symbolises the many bridges in the area, both over rivers as well as over roads.

The colours are those of the Corvey Abbey, which had some possessions in the area in the 11th century, as well as those of the State of Münster, to which the area belonged until 1803.
