NIKEL (Никель)

Federal subject : Murmansk Oblast
Rayon : Pechengsky Rayon

Coat of arms (crest) of Nikel
Official blazon
Russian blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on February 26, 2008.

The arms show the letters Ni, for the chemical element nickel, after which the town is named, due to the nickel ore and metal industry in the town. In the chief there are the Northern Lights to indicate the Northern latitude of the town. The base shows three mountains on the border between Russia, Norway and Finland.

Before 2008 several variations of the arms were used, see images below.
