History: Formed at Petite Snythe as No 6 Squadron, Royal Naval Air Service. Becoming on 1 April 1918 No 206 Squadron, RAF.

Origin/meaning

The Octopus is a very active animal and is reputed even to jump into the Air. Thus indicating the Air and Sea. The Motto transaltes as "Nothing escapes us".
The Badge was approved in March 1938.
