History: First foremd in 1939 at Royal Naval Air Station Lee-on-Solent as a Seaplane School and Post squadron. Reformed 1944-1946 as a Travelling recording Unit for Radar, using Vickers Wellington. Reformed 1955-1957 as a home for Piston-Engined Aircraft.

Origin/meaning
The Latin motto translates as "A safeguard for ships". The Badge was approved in 1945.
