No 831 Squadron, FAA

History: First formed in 1941 at Royal Naval Air Station Crail (HMS Jackdaw), Fife, Scotland as a Torpedo-Spotter-Reconnaissance Squadron for HMS Victorious. Later joined HMS indomitable as a Spotter-Reconnaissance Squadron until 1944. Finally in 1958 reformed at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose as 751 Squadron as a Training Unit with Avengers and Sea Venoms until disbanded in 1966.

Official blazon
English White issuant from water barry wavy blue and white of eight in base a clenched gauntlet proper upon which is perched an eagle affronty black wings elevated and inverted.

Motto: Aquilia non captit muscat.


Origin/meaning

The Latin Motto translates as "Eagles do not catch flies". The Badge was approved on 2 July 1943.
