History: First formed in 1943 at Naval Air Station Quonset Point, Rhode Island, USA as a Torpedo-Bomber-Reconnaissance Squadron. Reformed in 1952 with Douglas Skyraider at Royal Naval Air Station Brawdy (HMS Goldcrest), Pembrokeshire, Wales. Then in the Anti-electronic Warfare Role at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose with Fairey Gannets.

NO 849 SQUADRON, FAA

History: First formed in 1943 at Naval Air Station Quonset Point, Rhode Island, USA as a Torpedo-Bomber-Reconnaissance Squadron. Reformed in 1952 with Douglas Skyraider at Royal Naval Air Station Brawdy (HMS Goldcrest), Pembrokeshire, Wales. Then in the Anti-electronic Warfare Role at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose with Fairey Gannets.
