History: Raised at Upavon in September 1917.

A serpent reversed, head reguardant and tail embowed all proper.

Origin/meaning

The letter S was used by the Squadron as a Badge during World War One. The S-shape of the Serpent alludes to this and to the Motto. The Later translates as "The most powerful fear me". The badge was granted in October 1937.
