Origin/meaning

The arms show a stalk of oats. It is a symbol for agriculture and fertility, which have been important to the area for thousands of years. It gives associations to nature and proximity to it, to food, togetherness and generosity. It can also, figuratively, be a symbol of germinating and growing for nature, animals and people.

The blue colour refers to the sky and water. The fjord, lakes and waterways have played an important role for the area throughout history. The precious metal silver represents purity and peace.
