Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 12, 1994.

The wavy division line symbolises the Nuthe river. The upper half symbolises a typical type of house in the Nuthe area, a so-called Spiekerhus. The house has 23 fields, one for each of the villages in the municipality. The lower half is green, as the Southern part of the municipality is part of the Grünland region (green-land). The wheatear refers to the agricultural character of the municipality. Green also refers to the fields, gold to grain.

The arms are the result of a local contest among schoolchildren, which was further developed in a more heraldic design.
