Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on ?.

Nykvarn was created as a municipality in 1999 and was split off the Södertalje municipality. The arms show in the upper part an insect, Heptagenia sulphurea, a species of May flies. The insect is chosen as it lives in very clean waters, such as the Yngern lake in the municipality.

The water mill wheel symbolises the former watermills in the Turinge river and the modern industries in the municipality which developed from these mills.
