Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
OBERLIENZ
State : Tirol
District : Lienz
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 30, 1972.
The colours are taken from the County Görz, to which the area historically belonged. The rose is taken from the city of Lienz and also symbolises the fact that the village is known as a Blumendorf (flower-village).
Literature : Köfler and Beimrohr, 1995
