District (Kreis) : Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm (until 1969 Prüm)

Wappen von Oberpierscheid

Official blazon

Von Silber über Rot schräglinks geteilt, vorn ein grüner vier-blättriger Eichenzweig mit vier Eicheln, hinten eine Kapellenwestwerk mit spitzer Turmhaube und zwei schwarzen Fenstern.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 7, 2008.

The red and silver are the colours of the County of Vianden, to which the village belonged in medieval times. The oak branch refers to the former importance of forestry and oak trees for the village. Timber and wood as well as the production of tanning liquid were important for the village. The four acorns refer to the hamlets of Oberpierscheid, Philippsweiler, Röllersdorf and Luppertsseifen in the municipality, as well as to the the four larger farms.

The base shows the St. Simeon chapel in the municipality.
