OLORON-SAINTE-MARIE

Département : Pyrénées-Atlantiques

Official blazon

D'argent à la vache passante de gueules, accornée, colletée et clarinée d'azur, surmontée d'une croisette tréflée d'azur.

Origin/meaning

The arms were created after the unification in 1858 of Oloron and Sainte-Marie. The cow in the arms is taken from the arms of the former territory of Béarn, which showed two cows. Oloron was part of Béarn until the Duchy became part of France. The cross is the symbol of Sainte Marie.
