Un scut partajat în furcă, cuprinzând în partea superioară, pe fond de azur, un zbor natural (două aripi albe plasate față în față); în partea din dreapta, pe câmp roșu, o bornă de hotar, de argint, având în partea superioară o sferă; pe aceasta s-a plasat un ecuson albastru, încărcat cu două săbii de argint; în partea din stânga, pe câmp de aur, o carte având coperți naturale (pergament); pe fața cărții s-a conturat o cruce însoțită de ornamente florale și s-a scris cuvântul PALIA. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint, formată din cinci turnuri crenelate.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 30, 1998.

The border stone, the sign of the city from the feudal era, reminds of the colonization of the Saxons in this area; the swords allude to the defense fight waged by the locals over time; the book with parchment covers reminds of the first work in Romanian, printed here in 1852. The cross outlined on the cover reveals the religious character of the book, reminds the role of Orthodoxy in preserving the Romanian national being.

The wings refer to the activity in the field of aviation and evokes the permanent aspiration of man towards progress.
